HAPPY (ALMOST) TURKEY DAY
Mayor Michael Nutter at a charity turkey event in LOVE Park on Wednesday morning, one of many Philly faces giving the bird this holiday season. Photo tweeted by Molly Eichel of the Philadelphia Daily News courtesy of @urphillypal, who was in the costume.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The Billy Penn Daily newsletter will continue on Monday, Dec. 1 — Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO FIXING UP THE DIVINE LORRAINE HOTEL?
The redevelopment of the 120-year-old Divine Lorraine Hotel was supposed to start this fall. It didn’t. Why not? Well, it isn’t just about revitalizing a 10-story, dilapidated building. Developers, investors and the city hope renovating the hotel will be a catalyst for reviving the rest of the North Broad Street Corridor, especially above Ridge Avenue toward Girard. In the first part of our “Whatever happened with…” series, Billy Penn finds the answer — it’s simple, really. Money and permissions.
CAUSE OF DEATH FOR COOPER HEALTH SYSTEM CEO’S WIFE: HOMICIDE
The Inquirer looked at the death certificates for John and Joyce Sheridan — remember, he’s the longtime political figure in New Jersey who was running the massive Cooper Health System when he and his wife died in September. The records show the cause of death for Joyce Sheridan was homicide, while the cause of her husband’s death is “undetermined.” According to a New Jersey lawyer who’s not involved in the case, “They’re leaving open that his death could have been a murder or a suicide. This sort of turns everything on its head.”
NOR’EASTER? BEFORE THANKSGIVING? REALLY, WEATHER?
OK so it kind of looks like we’re in for a storm. Local TV weatherfolk have been hyperventilating about this for a few days now, and the wet stuff started falling this morning. It’s rain for now, but this map from the Weather Channel sort of shows what we’re in for. What no one knows yet: Whether this stays mostly rain, or switches to snow — and whether the ground stays warm enough for whatever falls to melt, or freeze. It’d probably be safer to travel tomorrow, TBH — the National Weather Service sort of reinforces that here. But either way be careful out there.

HOW TO HACK THE PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Look, the PHL gets a lot of hate from people who, generally speaking, aren’t in the best mood once the travel starts. And this is the busiest travel week of the year. But did you know Philly International made the list of the top 15 airports in the country in which to sleep? Yeah, that’s a dubious distinction, but what the hell, we’re in the top 15. We rounded up that and more tips, tricks and handy pointers to traveling the airport right here.
MEET THE 8-YEAR-OLD WHO’S TEACHING PEOPLE TO MAKE MOVIES
She’s the daughter of Comcast engineer Karl Martino, and she led a session at BarCamp about how to use an iPad and iMovie to make videos to a room full of adults. As Technically Philly notes, she wasn’t the only small but mighty entry to BarCamp — a second-grader was on one panel, and a four-year-old (!) talked about Philly’s public schools. Kids FTW.
