Sly Fox fundraiser paddle for Schuylkill Canal Association

The canals that used to transport cargo along the length of the Schuylkill River are mostly filled in, but there's one stretch still remaining. Since it's no longer used for commerce, recreational paddling is allowed on it, which lets you do something impossible most other places -- start and end a kayak trip at the same spot. Join Sly Fox and Take It Outdoors for an evening loop on the water that raises money to help maintain the waterway. A free beer (21+) is included with registration.

Where: Lock 60 of the Schuyllkill Canal at 400 Towpath Rd., Mont Clare

When: August 5, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

How much: $25 (or $45 if you need to rent a kayak)
