When the LOVE statue is finally ready to be displayed again in spring 2018, you’ll notice something different. For the last 30 years, the outside of the statue’s letters have been the wrong color. When the statue was restored in 1988, the outside was painted blue, when really the letters should have been purple. So for the restoration of LOVE Park, the city is taking the opportunity to correct the decades-old mistake. Here's how officials figured everything out.
November 3 should really be a holiday in Philly. It's National Sandwich Day, and there's no city in the U.S. as blessed with amazing sandwiches as we are. We took a look at the Sixers' recent (futile) history and what Embiid and Simmons have done so far this year to change the fortunes of the franchise.

The Eagles are the best team in football heading into this weekend's game with the Denver Broncos. They added a Pro Bowl running back to their arsenal before the trade deadline this week, and already have the leading candidate for MVP at quarterback. So, at 7-1, the question become about who can catch the Eagles for the top spot in the NFC. We ran down some contenders, including Minnesota, Seattle and, yes, even Dallas.
Vare Rec Center in Grays Ferry was a gymnastics hub until it was shut down two weeks ago due to concerns about the building's structural integrity. Young boxers are training at Athletic Rec at 26th and Master, and Germantown's Happy Hollow has a track record of sending players to the NBA. All three are on the city's preliminary list to receive major renovations through the $500 million Rebuild initiative. Wondering if your rec center, park, library or playground is on the list? Check out this map.
