Activists with disabilities stage ‘die-in’ at Sen. Toomey’s Philly office

Outside Pat Toomey's office on Friday, there were wheelchairs everywhere, but half the people weren't in them — they were lying on the floor. Around 25 members of the local chapter of ADAPT, a national disability rights activist group, staged a "die-in" after they showed up looking for the Pa. senator in Center City and he wasn't available to meet with them, according to NBC10. Members say they've "been trying to meet with him" for two years, while Toomey's spokespeople claim he's done his part, and met with national advocates at least twice in DC.

Who’s Next Chefs: 15 young Philadelphians preparing the future of food

The Philly food scene is so busy these days that it's hard to keep track of who's actually doing the cooking. Some star chefs are well known, but there's many more working quietly behind the scenes. Which ones deserve your attention? In May's edition of Who's Next, a monthly Billy Penn feature sponsored by the Knight Foundation, we've highlighted 15 of the up-and-coming kitchen folks whose names you'll want to remember.

Even the Eagles save parking spots with cones

It appears Philadelphia Eagles players aren't different the rest of us Philadelphians. Like many others in this city, they're obsessed with parking — to the extent that they even apparently have contests where the prize is getting access to the top car spot at the NovaCare practice complex. They also cone park. Welcome to the Week in Philly Parking.
