PA POLITICO: KATHLEEN KANE AND I CONSPIRED TO LEAK SECRET DOCUMENTS
Shocking testimony came down Thursday in Norristown as one of Kathleen Kane’s closest former aides testified against her in her criminal trial. The man, well-connected political consultant Joshua Morrow, testified that he and Kane worked together to leak secret grand jury documents to embarrass a political enemy — and then concoct a web of lies in order to cover it up. A recorded phone call was played in court to support Morrow’s testimony, and the prosecution unveiled a series of texts between the two showing Kane was interested in the would-be Daily News story at the center of perjury and obstruction charges against her. Here’s a rundown of the trial that could send our state’s chief law enforcement officer to prison.
EAGLES FOOTBALL IS BACK! WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE SAYING ABOUT LAST NIGHT’S GAME
The Eagles officially started the preseason Thursday night with a 17-9 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that had twice as many turnovers (6) as touchdowns (3). It was bad football, but it was football, and fans packed the hot and muggy Linc to see the Eagles, and rookie Carson Wentz, for the first time this year. If you didn’t watch the game, we don’t blame you. We did for you, and here’s what everyone will be talking about today.
‘OVERDOSING IS NOW THE NUMBER ONE ACCIDENTAL KILLER’ IN PA
Yes, it’s true. Pennsylvania’s heroin and prescription drug abuse crisis is one of the most acute problems facing the state, and the number of overdose deaths has skyrocketed in recent years. Attorney General candidate Josh Shapiro has a dedicated page on his website about fighting the opioid epidemic. Meanwhile, car crash deaths — long touted as the top cause of accidental deaths — are decreasing. Here’s what we found when we fact-checked Shapiro’s claim.

AN ACTUALLY FUN WAY TO FIGURE OUT WTF YOU CAN RECYCLE
Philly is all about getting people to recycle more, but when trash day rolls around, who really wants to figure out if the greasy pizza box from your post-Sips binge can go in the blue bin (it can’t, BTW). Recycle By City created this interactive to help Philadelphians figure out what can and can’t get recycled. There’s a downloadable guide, too.
ESCAPE THE HEAT IN THESE 14 CHILLY SPOTS
Temps are high, the air is soupy and there’s one too many babies in loose diapers running through the Dilworth Park fountains. So if you’re around Center City or Old City today and need to beat the heat, an indoor option is your best shot. Take your lunch to the Liberty Place rotunda, where it’s 76.4 degrees. Browse the racks at Uniqlo, where it’s a balmy 70 and the winter coats are on display. Or hit up one of these 12 other spots where the a/c is on blast.
