CHAKA FATTAH ON THE MOMENT HE REALIZED HE LOST HIS CONGRESSIONAL SEAT
Chaka Fattah has been a public official since the early 1980s and a U.S. Congressman since 1995. Once this year ends, he won’t be. He hadn’t planned on losing, but he’s getting excited about leaving public office, mainly because ideas won’t take years to develop and receive all the necessary approvals. He’d also like to relax.
NORTH PHILLY STOP-AND-FRISK FORUM WITH MAYOR KENNEY ERUPTS IN CHAOS
A town hall forum at a North Philadelphia church had to be shut down last night because it devolved into a melee. After Mayor Jim Kenney tried to explain his “half flip” on stop and frisk, audience members called him a “liar” and a “pig politician,” and also attacked PPD Commish Richard Ross. SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel III, who live-tweeted the event, offered a bit of positivity: “As long as we are still talking, there is hope. Anger is a part of conversation.”
WE BRAVED PA’S FIRST ‘INDOOR SKYDIVING’ CENTER
Wind tunnels have long been used as a practice space for professional skydivers. At iFly, an indoor skydiving chain that just arrived in King of Prussia two weeks ago, anyone can use one —for a shindig, a date or a family outing. But you better believe there’s training before getting into the tunnel.
