HAPPY SPRING! HERE COMES SOME SNOW
It’s the first day of spring, which means free Rita’s water ice! And don’t let the threat of snow stop you, because the storm shifted a bit, so if we do get some, it’ll be late in the day and probably just be 1 to 2 inches. Chins up: There’s the potential for 70-degree weather later this week.
VIDEO: DUDE DANCING ON A SEPTA BIKE RACK AT BROAD & ERIE
A crowd gathered in North Philly to gawk at a man who jumped on the bike rack on the front of a 16 bus at Broad and Erie last week (in front of Max’s Steaks). He proceeded to do a half-striptease — just the shirt — and pose for the cameras, stopping the bus in its tracks. In the background of the video, people are torn: “I love my city,” says one, but “Where’s the police when you need them?” wonders another.
THE CABBIE WHO SUGGESTED PAT SHOULD SELL CHEESESTEAKS
The origin tale of the cheesesteak is pretty well known around here — Pat Olivieri had a hot dog cart, but when he cooked up steak one day, a passing cab driver tasted it and suggested Pat switch to selling that instead. Urban legend? We talked to the family of the taximan, who tells us he said, “You should put that on a roll.”
