Thanks to a California-based Super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton, anyone in Philly can take Uber or Lyft to the polls for free on Election Day. The PAC is crowdfunding payment for as many voters as it can around the country, but it is making a special effort for Pennsylvania — and especially Philly, since the SEPTA strike is ongoing. ‘HEY, SOMEBODY HAS TO BE BLAMED’: THE STORY OF THE SEPTA STRIKE MEDIATOR
TWU Local 234, a 4,700-member union, is heading into the sixth day of its strike. SEPTA’s Friday evening effort to end the strike with an injunction failed. Under Pennsylvania law, the parties negotiating out a contract can’t do it alone. The state requires that collective bargaining for public sector employees include a state-appointed mediator from the Department of Labor and Industry.
