POLITICS KEEPS YUENGLING OUT OF WOLF INAUGURATION
Don’t bother asking for a lager at next week’s inauguration for Tom Wolf in Harrisburg — it’s not on the menu. “We met our beverage needs,” Wolf spokesperson Beth Melena told The Inquirer, “and we have a variety of choices for attendees from a number of breweries including Pennsylvania-based breweries.” One of those choices is not Yuengling, which bills itself as “America’s oldest brewery and is available in most of the Eastern half of the state by simply asking the barkeep for a “lager.” Why not? Well, 74-year-old Richard Yuengling, Jr. is a pretty big Republican, and the state’s unions aren’t a fan. Incidentally, per the outgoing governer’s spokesperson, “All Pennsylvania brewers were proudly represented at Governor’s Corbett’s inauguration.”

And those inmates who got March dates won’t be executed then — or, if history is any guide, ever.

Your walks along the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk will be shadier this summer — and yeah, you needed that warm thought, right? PlanPhilly spotted the new addition to the structure last month. Pergolas were actually built into the original design but funding was cut — then so were the pergolas. But the boardwalk was built with anchors for the pergolas, so when funding was found, they could be quickly added.
