Bundle up today because by the time you leave the office — even if you ditch out early on one of the last Fridays before Christmas to get some last-minute shopping done — you could be commutin' in a winter wonderland. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for today from 1 p.m. through 9 p.m., with snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches in the city. Don't forget to save your parking spot now!
Councilwoman Cindy Bass' bill reforming stop-and-go stores passed yesterday, despite plenty of pushback from owners of the beer-selling corner stores. The bill aims to clarify the kind of license beer delis need to operate, and part of getting these shops in line with state laws would mean removing the bulletproof barriers separating customers from employees. It's the piece about the barriers that have stop-and-go owners worried, and that caught the attention of the alt-right. Here's how their false claims about racism made Bass a target.
If you put on ESPN today you will see a lot about Philly and A LOT about the Sixers. The network is in town for tonight's game with OKC and they're taking the opportunity to go all-access on The Process. We talked with ESPN's lead NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy about Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz and he did not hold back saying re: Fultz's injury, "the one thing I don't ever do is believe the team." He also thinks Embiid and Simmons have a chance to be all-time greats, with only one thing standing in their way. This is a must-read interview.
A month after it opened to the public, the Yards Brewing taproom at Fifth and Spring Garden is hopping. On weekdays, the 250-seat indoor beer hall fills up nicely, but on weekends things have been going nuts, with hourlong lines for a wait to get in. Once you do, though, it's worth the effort. Check out our survey of the new spot, including a look at chef Jim Burke's menu (you're gonna want that foie gras poutine).
Carolers, hot chocolate, gifts and trolley rides will get you in the holiday spirit at this annual celebration in Olney. Santa will be there, too!

A cow named Stormy got loose in the city yesterday morning, twice, so apologies if we're milking this story for all it's worth. Roads were closed and police were called before the large bovine was eventually corralled on the 4th floor of the Wyndham parking deck and steered back to her Old City nativity scene. Holy cow, indeed. Here's the story of Stormy's Philly adventure. Yes, there are more puns.
