LATEST ON THAT ‘ARTISTS REGISTRY’ FIASCO: PHILLY MUSIC’S STILL WORRIED
Five of Philly’s most prolific music venue owners and show promoters are meeting today with Councilman Mark Squilla, who recently came under fire for a bill that would have created an “artists registry” of sorts. Though Squilla has pulled the bill that lit up on social media and led to a petition with nearly 16,000 signatures against the move, these heavy-hitters still have concerns, according to Sean Agnew, owner of R5 Productions as well as venues Boot & Saddle and Union Transfer. Here’s what he told us in advance of the meeting.
IS JOHN FETTERMAN REALLY THE ONLY STATE CANDIDATE BACKING BERNIE?
Braddock Mayor and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman boasts that he’s the only Pennsylvania candidate to endorse Bernie Sanders so far. In a Reddit AMA Tuesday, one user praised Fetterman and fellow Democratic senate candidate Joe Sestak, retired Navy admiral and former U.S. congressman, for campaigns resembling Sanders’ grassroots feel. “I am the only candidate that has endorsed Bernie Sanders for President,” Fetterman replied. ” In PA, I’ve got Bernie’s back.” Was that so? In the first story of our partnership with Politifact, we decided to check it out.

The tall 64-year-old who lives in South Jersey and is best known for bloviating about sports from 5:30 to 10 a.m. every day is the hands-down chief of WIP’s long-running Morning Show that’s led the city in sports radio ratings for the last 25 years. He’s also the loudmouth of Wing Bowl, and there’s some things you might not know about him.
THE PHILLY BEER TWITTER POWER RANKINGS
It’s not just that the region is home to dozens of great breweries, from stalwarts like Yards, Victory and Dogfish Head to a new crop of boundary-pushers (Tired Hands, Forest & Main, St. Benjamin’s, Crime & Punishment, many more). Philly drinkers also get access to more varieties of beer from more parts of the world than just about anywhere else. Plus, just about every non-chain establishment in the city, from dives to fancy restaurants, offers a varied selection that rotates frequently. How does one keep up? Twitter, of course — and here’s our guide.
