First the NFL Draft takes over the Rocky steps, now this. A "Rocky" tour guide tells Philly.com he was just about to point tourists toward Adrian's pet shop at Front and Susquehanna in Kensington when he saw the demolition happening. The building was featured pretty prominently in four of the films. Don't worry — the tourists grabbed bricks on their way out.
When the folks at West Philly's Dock Street Brewing realized they'd have extra room in the space leased to host their new canning line, they decided to turn it into a bar. But not just any bar: The bar they'd been dreaming of, where all ingredients are sourced locally, from food to drink to beer. Check out what'll be on the menu — including killer beer cocktails and fantastic spent grain vegan pretzels — when the spot opens to the public next Thursday.
Howie Roseman was asked yesterday if he has Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon on his draft board and the Eagles GM refused to confirm or deny. There's no doubt the Eagles need a running back, but Mixon comes with an enormous amount of baggage, after he was suspended for a year in college after punching a woman in the face. The assault stayed with Mixon his entire career at OU, and came to a head during draft prep when a tape was released this past December. The Eagles have made some questionable character calls under Doug Pederson, and it's worth asking, will they look past Mixon's past in the draft?

This is the fourth year Yards has partnered with Tree Philly for the Earth Day/Arbor Day giveaway, and if you're 21+, your plantlife also comes with a free Yards t-shirt.

We can make ironic snowball jokes here, right? The Eagles schedule was announced last night and there are five primetime games in 2017, including one Monday, December, 25 when the Raiders come to down. Expect to hear the ol' Santa trope a lot that week. In all, the schedule looks pretty tough for the Birds, with two trips to the West Coast and road games at Kansas City and at Seattle. And of course, the season ends on New Years' Eve day, hosting Dallas. We're already going to start drinking.
Calling all Deadheads and like-minded psychedelic jam band fans: In honor of the 40th anniversary of the band's most famous concert ever — and in honor of 4/20, the day the event was announced — Peter Dissin of Pinefish is hosting a special Grateful Dead dinner on May 8. It's $30 per person, with lots of dishes to choose from. They're all named after Dead songs; how many references do you get?
The Phillies topped the Mets last night to up their early record to 6-9. Maikel Franco hit a homer and Aaron Nola got his second win. This week, we started a new series asking...who is the best player on the Phillies? Right now, it might be second baseman Cesar Hernandez, who tops on our first Phillies Power Rankings of the season. Yep, we ranked the entire roster from worst (hello Clay Buchholz) to the best, and everyone in between. See where Franco, Nola, Odubel Herrera and the rest of the 25-man roster landed this week.
