Philadelphia has already spent a quarter of a million dollars wooing Amazon, and sent Jeff Bezos some sports jerseys to sweeten the deal. But the Wall Street Journal says that's not enough. By ranking bidding cities based on a number of factors outlined in Amazon's quest for its second HQ, WSJ came up with a list of top contenders. Philly's not on it. We're not even listed the "long shot" category. Take a look.
It's officially official. Though there's been speculation for months and he's already all but announced, John Fetterman confirmed yesterday he's running for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania. The 2016 election cycle might seem like light years ago, but Fetterman was on the Democratic primary ballot for U.S. Senate in an attempt to unseat Pat Toomey. The race for gov and lt. gov will heat up in the new year, so expect to see a lot more of the Braddock mayor.
The Boulevard Applebee's reopened on Monday, 15 months after a fire burned it to the ground. When loyal customers returned, they found something different: their beloved Roosevelt Boulevard hang looked a whole lot different. The Edison bulbs, exposed brick, concrete floors and chalkboard draft list at the Northeast Philly spot are a preview of what's to come for other area locations, according to regional franchise owner Jeffrey Warden. What's the deal? Warden told Billy Penn that reports the brand was pivoting away from millennials "just aren't true."

The Sixers finish their West Coast swing tonight against the Lakers on ESPN. And this just in...the Sixers are actually good. At 7-6, their record could be better — they've let three games go in the final minutes — but they're playing really good basketball. And it's more than just Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. We broke down what makes the Sixers good this season, and it's something only the Golden State Warriors are doing better.
Steve Morales doesn't really have a typical day at ACCT. The Germantown native does everything from investigating complaints about animals to mediating neighbor disputes to working with the fire department when a burning home has pets. And then there's the occasional raccoon. Before joining Philly's Animal Care & Control team, Morales helped dogs get adopted through the New Leash on Life program, which he got involved in while at Graterford. Here's how a program for inmates led Morales to a full-time job.
