Josh Solomon was 11 the first time he picked up a gun, and 20 when he was sentenced to prison for shooting someone. He was among the activists who met with politicians and police Monday in Philadelphia to discuss gun violence. The police commissioner, district attorney, council president and incoming Pennsylvania attorney general and Ceasefire PA were all at the table. The resounding theme of what those groups need? Support. Specifically: Money.
Jill Stein’s Pennsylvania recount attempt continues to sputter, with a Wednesday ruling from the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas denying her request to have the city’s electronic voting machines examined. The request to forensically study the machines was considered by her lawyers to be one of the best ways to determine the validity of the votes, and they had previously said they thought they had a chance in court. But they didn't. Here's more on the judge's decision. It's been something of a rollercoaster with Jill Stein's recount efforts, and all the same, state Republicans aren't too worried about how soon the deadline is. Joel Embiid still isn’t playing back-to-back games. Jahlil Okafor missed two-straight games with gastroenteritis, and Nerlens Noel is still not ready to play competitive basketball as he rehabs from surgery. Embiid needs help, and until Noel is back and Ben Simmons finally takes the floor, Brett Brown is still trying to figure out the right combination of players to give it to him. We’re 22 games into the season, more than a quarter of the way done the year, and to a fan, nobody knows how to answer this question: After Embiid, who is the Sixers’ second-best player?
