THE ULTIMATE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIE BRACKET, ROUND 1
The 2016 Philadelphia Phillies are, in a word, notgood. But we’re not here to talk about 2016. Let’s talk ultimate. Billy Penn’s next bracket is the search for the Philliest Phillie. The bracket is broken into four regions: Infielders, outfielders, starting pitchers and a combined region for catchers and relievers. And though the Phillie Phanatic, Harry Kalas, Charlie Manuel, Dallas Green and John Vukovic deserve recognition for their contributions to the ballclub, we feel confident our list of players will accomplish the task we’ve set out to do. We narrowed 1,986 players down to just 32, and the rest is up to you. It’s time to vote in Round 1 of the Ultimate Philadelphia Phillie Bracket.
PA HOUSE TO VOTE ON ABORTION BILL
Pro-choice advocates call it the strictest abortion bill in the country. Rep. Kathy Rapp says the “Pain Capable/ Dismemberment Pro-Life Legislation” is the “voice of the unborn. The Pa. House plans to vote on the bill today, and the legislation is expected to pass. In short, the bill would change the current 24-week cutoff for abortions to 20 weeks, and it would make a medically accepted technique called “dilation and evacuation” illegal and penalize doctors for performing it. We wrote about the full details of the bill, including why it’s flying through the can’t-agree-on-a-budget Legislature.

IS PHILLY THIRSTY ENOUGH FOR TWO SPRING BEER CONFERENCES?
The Craft Brewers Conference is coming to Philly the first week of May. Nope, that’s not the same as Philly Beer Week, which kicks off in early June. The former is national and hasn’t been here in more than a decade, and the latter is the city’s own annual brewing celebration. But still — do we need more than one beer brewhaha (see what we did there)? Short answer: yes. Here’s what to expect during CBC and PBW, and the case for attending both.
THE WEATHER WON’T SUCK THIS WEEK
Have a good weekend? Enjoy that snow on Saturday? It was so cold, the city even rescheduled the annual Philly Spring Cleanup (it’s now this coming Saturday, btw). Good news is, Spring is back. Fox29’s seven-day forecast shows we’ll stay above 50, escape heavy rains and enjoy a pretty warm weekend.
