MEMORIAL DAY IN PHILLY, PAST AND PRESENT
Memorial Day is a time to remember veterans who gave their lives to serve, and to enjoy the start of summer. Philadelphia has always been an ideal place to be on Memorial Day, and we combed through the archives of the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, via Temple University Libraries, for these seven scenes of historic Memorial Day. After you check those out, tour these eight Philly landmarks honoring veterans and from as far back as the Civil War.
In honor of Memorial Day, admission is free on Monday. Activities include musket and flag etiquette, music from the Air National Guard Band, and various crafts and games.
