Watch what you say next time you run into Peter Breslow. The local PR professional is now packing heat. In an opinion essay for Philadelphia magazine, Breslow explains what led him to buy a 9mm Smith & Wesson and apply for a concealed carry permit. He also laments that the process of getting a gun was so damn easy, and wants you to know he’s not planning to join the NRA.
HOMEGROWN ‘CREED’ STAR JOINS OSCAR BOYCOTT
“Listen, y’all, I don’t mean to sound cocky, but the movie’s called Creed, not Rocky,” rapped comedian Anthony Anderson at the recent NAACP Image Awards. It was part of an intro about the lack of racial diversity in this year’s Academy Awards, something that spurred a national #OscarsSoWhite boycott. Among those skipping the broadcast? Southwest Philly boxer Marquise Noel, the 19-year-old who starred as the leader of Creed’s dirt bike crew.
INSIDE MOTHER BETHEL AME CHURCH, BASTION OF U.S. CIVIL RIGHTS
Located on the oldest parcel of land owned continuously by African Americans in America, Mother Bethel AME in the late 1700s was the site of the first religious protest in the newly-formed United States. We toured the Society Hill church and found out lots more details about its impressive history.

Three companies have donated more than 100 bikes to be distributed to four Philly youth organizations. Help build those bikes while enjoying plenty of food and beverages. Mechanical skills a plus, but not required.

After hosting four dinners with chefs from various Philly restaurants, the group known as PAUWR (Popular Alliance for Undocumented Workers' Rights) will be figuring out what to do next. All are invited to join in the discussion.
