Pennsylvania School Reform Commission dissolves Philadelphia public school teachers’ contract

In what is considered to be a nationally unprecedented move, the state-appointed School Reform Commission of Philadelphia unilaterally cancelled its contract with the Federation of Philadelphia Teachers on Oct. 6. The major change teachers will feel is with regard to health care — they’ll have to chip in funds for 13 percent of theirs. This is the fallout.
