Philly’s Times Square? Market East demolition to bring digital billboards to Center City

Market East’s $500 million transition into East Market is beginning in earnest.

After demolition, construction can really ramp up, and East Market, Market, Ludlow and Chestnut between 11th and 12th streets, is going to be a lot taller and more vibrant, according to artists’ renderings.
It is slated to feature two floors of stores and 322 apartments that will stretch to 17 stories.
Ludlow Street will become a place for sitting and shopping rather than the afterthought it is now. Also, expect to see giant videoboards.
