It’s like Uber, but for drunk people in Manayunk.
If you’re one of the many people who will out and about on this Thanksgiving Eve binge drinking, you can actually blow into a breathalyzer and be rewarded for your drunkenness with a free ride home from Uber up to the price of a $20 ride.
The ride-sharing giant that is still technically operating illegally in Philadelphia is launching the first-of-its-kind effort in the area called Uber Smart, an initiative the company is using to combat drunk driving in high-drinking areas tonight AKA Thanksgiving Eve AKA Blackout Wednesday.
Here’s how it will work: Uber is setting up a kiosk at Mad River located at 4100 Main Street. According to Uber, “party goers will blow into the breathalyzer kiosk to see their blood alcohol level, and in turn Uber will provide a free ride home (up to $20) regardless of blood alcohol level.”
Uber operated the program earlier this year in Toronto, which was called Uber Safe and was the same concept. Here’s a video of how it works:
