Ah, December. What better time than the holiday season to… play cornhole in University City’s newest pocket park?
It might sound counter-intuitive — even counter-seasonal — but it was also near 60 degrees in Center City on Wednesday. That’s why we’re inviting you to hang with Billy Penn and the University City Science Center Friday at a soft launch for Innovation Plaza.
Of course, the space — formerly a dull pedestrian walkway on 37th Street, between Chestnut and Market — already has gaming tables, an entertainment zone, plenty of seating and WiFi. But we’re upping the stakes with hot drinks thanks to Saxbys Coffee and New Liberty Distilling, plus food, music and the aforementioned cornhole.

So you’re invited; stop by for the soft opening (the space will be formally dedicated in the spring, with a big ceremony and everything) and grab something warm on your way home. We’ll be there from 4-6 PM. You can RSVP right here.
Because ’tis the season… for cornhole.
