Red Bull Sound Select will kick off “3 Days in Philly” on Thursday, Oct. 12 with an all indie rock line-up at Underground Arts, featuring headliner Girlpool, The Dove & The Wolf, and Queen of Jeans.  Previously based in Philadelphia, Girlpool is a three member band consisting of guitar, bass and drums offering a spirited take on empowered indie rock, currently supporting their May album release “Powerplant.” Philly-based The Dove & The Wolf craft reflective indie rock that takes inspiration from dream pop and 70s soft rock, having recently released their seven track album “I Don’t Know What to Feel” in March 2017. Queen of Jeans is a quartet from Philly’s South side with 60s girl group-influenced vocal harmonies and textured melodic pop.

On Friday, October 13th, “3 Days in Philly” will return to Underground Arts with Noname, Andrea Valle and Brianna Cash.  Chicago based poet and hip-hop recording artist Noname will headline the show, known for her dense and adept rhymes and non traditional background music.  Philly based songstress Andrea Valle, belies her relative youth by creating low key but powerful songs that enmesh neo soul, jazz and R&B.  Singer/songwriter Brianna Cash, known as one of Philly’s rising R&B stars, will round out the night with her sensual and stripped down vocals.

On Saturday, October 14th, “3 Days in Philly” will culminate in a special Okayplayer curated R&B show at the Trocadero Theater, including Syd, Ravyn Lenae, St. Beauty and a DJ set by D∆WN Richard.  Syd, the lead vocalist of LA based soul band The Internet, has had a banner year, having released her full length, self-titled album “Fin” in February.  Ravyn Lenae is a smooth contemporary R&B artist known for her atmospheric tracks that feature her spare, poetic lyrics; she is currently supporting the launch of her 6-track March EP “Midnight Moonlight.”  St. Beauty comprises singers Alexe Belle and Isis Valentino of Atlanta who met while working in vintage store in their native Atlanta, layering honey-drenched melodies over emotional lyrics that delve into the themes of life and love. R&B powerhouse, D∆WN Richard will open the show with her incredible skillset and soulful aura. The Danity Kane alum is just off a short July tour surrounding her recent appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival.
