From a.kitchen:
On Tuesday, Nov. 21, Chef Eli Collins will host a fun and tasty Cider & Choucroute Fest at a.kitchen (135 S. 18th St). In what will become an annual pre-Thanksgiving tradition, the restaurant will pour European ciders to complement a three-course meal centered around hearty plates of Chef Collins’ modern-traditional Choucroute Garnie for $40 per person.
The meal will include:
- Salade Lyonnaise with lardon, egg and bitter greens
- Choucroute Garnie, house-fermented sauerkraut simmered in Riesling with pork loin, pork belly, apples and autumn vegetables
- Poached Pears with crème anglaise
The bar will also feature three ciders, from Brittany, the Loire Valley and Spain’s Basque region, highlighting a range of styles, alongside a variety of Alsatian wines ideal for complementing the choucroute.
Philly, beyond the cheesesteak
