Not everyone can make it home for Thanksgiving. The family gathering might be too far away. You might be tied up with work. Or maybe you’re just ignoring everyone this year.

Whatever the reason, you don’t have to eat alone. Several local bars are open on Turkey Day, so head out early and grab a seat.

Here are nine places to check out:

Dim Sum House

This University City restaurant that’s a sibling of Center City’s popular Jane G’s will be serving the regular menu at the bar starting at noon. The Cantonese- and Shanghai-influenced dim sum offer a delicious way to break away from the traditional Thanksgiving meal.

London Grill

Fairmount’s favorite neighborhood hang opens at noon and seating is first come, first serve. The restaurant’s traditional Thanksgiving buffet starts at 2 p.m., and the $25 bar platter includes 5 items, soup and dessert.

Misconduct Tavern

Starting at 11 a.m., this sports tavern will be offering a $15 Thanksgiving meal at the bar. Both locations — 15th and Locust, and 18th and JFK — will offer the holiday-themed plate all day long.

O’Neal’s Pub

Head over at 11 a.m. and you’ll be able to score some early drinks and food at this South Street bar. If you wait an hour, the Thanksgiving buffet begins at noon. Eat at the bar or snag a table to enjoy your meal.

Red Owl Tavern

There are two ways you can choose to tackle this bar across from Independence Mall. You could swing through anytime from 7 to 10 a.m. for Thanksgiving brunch at the bar. Or wait until later and splurge on the  $55 three-course Thanksgiving dinner, available starting at noon.

Square 1682

The regular weekend brunch menu will be offered at this Rittenhouse spot in the Palomar hotel from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the bar. The $55 three-course Thanksgiving dinner starts at 3 p.m.

The Little Lion

This Old City tavern opens at noon and will be serving a Thanksgiving menu at the bar. Unfortunately, the Museum of the American Revolution located across the street will be closed, but you can always raise a holiday toast to the Founding Fathers anyway.

The Twisted Tail

The juke joint on Headhouse Square is serving a family-style Thanksgiving dinner starting at noon. Don’t worry, the $49 meal is offered at the bar as well — no reservation needed.

Urban Farmer

This mod steakhouse in the Logan Hotel will be offering a regular breakfast menu from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., but if you want a luxe solo meal, the $75 Thanksgiving dinner starts at noon. Bar patrons can choose between the special or regular menus.
