The latest edition of our biweekly Philly Quizzo had a focus on the city’s rich and varied Black culture.

As protests surged throughout the city in early June, we postponed this event for the first time since we started our virtual trivia nights. People’s attention was rightly elsewhere. On Wednesday, we brought it back with a focus on Philadelphia’s African American history and the local efforts in the nationwide movement to dismantle systemic racism.

More than six dozen people joined us on Zoom, where they RSVP’d for free or offered an optional donation, which we’re splitting this month between our nonprofit newsroom and the Share Food Program. As 35 different teams, they competed to win the Philly Quizzo prize: bragging rights and a $50 gift certificate to Kisso Sushi in Old City.

After three close rounds, interspersed with a mix from local DJ Bounce Gawd, we crowd a winner. Team “Cupcake & Suraya” took top honors with a final tally of 22/24.

Now it’s your turn. Without using Google, can you beat the high score?
