There’s someone you know in Philadelphia who deserves more recognition.
Maybe it’s a close friend who’s suddenly doing amazing things. A family member you helped get where they are. A work colleague who impresses you on the regular. Or maybe it’s not a person you’ve met at all, but someone you heard about, and think other people should too.
These are the people we want to honor at the 2021 Billies — and we need your help to do it.
Nominations are now open for our annual awards show and fundraiser, which is set for June 16 via Zoom. Presented by Pat’s King of Steaks, the show will feature local entertainment, a live raffle, and a special VIP after-party. Stay tuned for ticket and registration info, coming soon.
First, we need to find the honorees. In addition to our secret MVP (that’s Most Valuable Philadelphian), this year’s event features nine categories that honor local heroes, creators, leaders, allies, connectors, champions, and innovators:
? Better Than Wooder: For creating great drinks and places to enjoy them
? Never Delete Your Account: Most persuasive social media use
? Graffiti Glowup: Most interesting street art
? Best Pandemic Pivot: Celebrating a small business that ‘made it work’
☀️ Lenfest Sunshine Award: Most impactful local journalism project (sponsored by The Lenfest Institute)
? Stoop-er Star: Honoring a neighbor that leveled up their community
?? We All We Got, We All We Need: Celebrating mutual aid organizations providing for their neighbors
? Socially Distant Showstopper: For excellent (and safe) pandemic live arts production
? The Kids Are Alright: Zoomers breaking barriers and making waves
Once you submit your nominations, our internal committee will narrow down the choices to four finalists in each category. Then we’ll come back to you with a post that introduces all the options and asks you to vote for your favorite. Winners will be revealed the night of the event.
