The Billies is an entertainment and awards show celebrating cool people who help make Philadelphia better and more fun. Set for June 16, it’s an event you will not want to miss, and this year it’s easier than ever to attend.

A virtual show with live hosts and entertainment, the 2021 event has pay-what-you-wish tickets. That means everyone is invited — and there’s no excuse not to attend.

? Get your Billies tickets here — $25 or pay what you wish

We already have our MVP, Most Valuable Philadelphian: that’s Terril Haigler, aka Ya Fav Trashman. He’ll join the party, and you’ll find out more about his impressive rise from North Philly dance star to champion of sanitation workers and clean streets.

Using the hundreds of nominations you sent in, our committee has selected four finalists in each of the other nine category award categories. Their names will be announced soon, with the winner revealed on the night of the show.

If you’d like to buy a ticket to attend the event, the suggested price is $25 per person. All proceeds go directly to Billy Penn’s bottom line and help pay for our newsroom’s work.

But we don’t want anyone to miss the show!

So when you make your purchase, you can choose to pay the suggested price, add an additional tax-deductible contribution, or select a different amount. Pay what you wish is in line with the philosophy that drives everything we do. Our website doesn’t have a paywall, and our daily newsletter is free.

On the flip side, you can show your love for BP and Philadelphia by joining the 2021 Billies VIP experience.

With the $75 donation, VIPs will receive a special gift package. Stay tuned for details on that — there are cocktails with local spirits involved, as well as discounts at restaurants in your neighborhood. You’ll also get access to an after-party with our 2021 Billies winners and BP reporters.

The entire show is generously presented by Pat’s King of Steaks (best use of cheesesteaks = funding local journalism).

We also have a whole category about local journalism, sponsored by the Lenfest Institute. Check out all the awards below, and pick up your ticket here to join us from 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday, June 16.
