A deadly day on Philly’s streets

Wednesday was a particularly treacherous day for cyclists and pedestrians in Philadelphia. Two people were killed — one standing at a corner on Allegheny Avenue in Kensington and another riding her bicycle on Spruce Street — and a third was in critical condition after being struck while crossing the street in Germantown. Continue reading …

Philly basketball lost two of its most singular figures this week

Joe Bryant and Pat Williams followed two very different paths to basketball excellence. But the two were both born in Philly and enjoyed some of their greatest accomplishments in the City of Brotherly Love. They were even tied together in their professional lives — Williams, as Sixers GM, traded for Bryant, who was part of the team that reached the 1977 NBA Finals.
