Galentine’s Day, originally coined by the iconic Leslie Knope of the NBC series “Parks and Recreation,” is a celebration of friendship the day before Valentine’s Day. Although the “official” holiday is February 13, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate all month long. If you’re trying to embrace the platonic love this year, we’ve got a list of recommendations for you.
Thursday, Feb. 13: Galentine’s Day Wine Tasting
Two hospitality and event companies, Wine Garden and Kabila Events, join forces for an evening celebrating friendship, wine and fun. The event will be hosted in two sessions – 5 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $45 for general admission, and include complimentary wine samplings, live entertainment, photo stations, creative cocktail menus and discounted food available for purchase.
Thursday, Feb. 13: Galentine’s Day Bubbly Party
Tria Cafe Wash West is hosting a Galentine’s Day party centered around wine tasting. The $50 ticket includes access to tastings of various wines and cheeses. The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to attend Tria’s Happy Hour before the event, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 13: Walnut Street Café’s Galentine’s Day Social
The Walnut Street Cafe will be hosting an event focusing on community and connection from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature charcuterie and sweet treats, drinks, a flower bar, a full bar and food menu available for purchase and a keynote speech from Priscilla Loomis, an Olympic track-and-field athlete. Tickets are $25.
Thursday, Feb. 13: Galentine’s POC
This event focuses on uplifting and empowering women of color through fun activities, inspiring speakers and networking opportunities with others. Tickets for the free event can be found here.
Thursday, Feb. 13- Sunday, Feb. 16: ‘Axe Your Ex’ Valentine’s Day Party
Kick Axe’s Philly’s 6th Annual “Axe Your Ex” event encourages attendees to bring a photo of your ex to put on the target for axe-throwing. Attendees can also send a photo from their camera roll to be printed once at the event. With multiple time slots throughout the weekend, the event will feature axe-throwing, jumbo backyard games and board games, cocktails and bites, and more.
Friday, Feb. 14: Galentine’s Night at Zion Baptist Church
Join Zion Baptist Church for a night of “fun, food and fellowship,” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. The tickets are $20 through Feb. 11 and include food, activities, fellowship, networking opportunities and an optional White Elephant Gift exchange.
Saturday, Feb. 15 & Sunday, Feb. 16: Aqimero Boozy Tea
The restaurant located in the Ritz Carlton lobby will include a “teapot-sized cocktail” and four-course tasting menu designed to share. Reservations can be made for up to six people, and tickets are $125 per guest. Reservations can be made via OpenTable.
Saturday, Feb. 15: Galentine’s Paint & Sip
The $35 ticket includes all painting supplies and step-by-step instructions, icebreakers and networking opportunities, cocktails and mocktails for sale and sweet treats at The Flower Kitchen. The event goes from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and also includes giveaways!
Saturday, Feb. 15: Galentine’s/Valentine’s R&B Sing & Paint
Join The Office Lounge for a brunch and sip-and-paint on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends or a date to enjoy painting, networking activities, mimosas and other sweet treats. Tickets are $35.
Sunday, Feb. 16: Galentine’s Day Bouquet Brunch and Fashion Show
Starting at 1 p.m., Jenice’s Event & Conference Center will be hosting a fashion show event.The $45 ticket includes a brunch, a fashion show showcasing the latest trends, and the opportunity to network with new friends.
Sunday, Feb. 16: Galentine’s Day Self-Care Soirée
The Sistah Scents Fragrance Bar is celebrating friendship, self-care and self-love at its Galentine’s Day event. Tickets include a customized scenting workshop, where participants can create their own body scrub and body butter set, drinks, music and photo opportunities. Tickets include a solo option for $65 and a “bestie package” with two tickets for $120. The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 16: Galentine’s Day Love & Heartbreak Edition Drag Brunch
Enjoy brunch and a show from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bar Hygge in Fairmount. The $25 per guest ticket includes a reservation for the two-hour brunch period and a drag show.
Sunday, Feb. 16: Galentine’s Day at Haven Cafe
This event will feature an entree of the guest’s choice, a signature drink and a flight of drinks to share. The event requires a $10 deposit, which will be put toward your bill, and a total of $45 to attend.
Sunday, Feb. 16: Afternoon Tea at FRIEDA
Enjoy various tea sandwiches, pastries and tea in celebration of Galentine’s Day at FRIEDA from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The price is $48 per person plus tax and a 20 percent service charge. Reservations can be made via this link. FRIEDA is located across from Independence National Historical Park
Tuesday, Feb. 18: Galentine’s Day Mango Mingle
The digital marketing and design studio will be hosting a networking event focused on growing businesses and meeting like-minded people from 6 to 8 p.m. at Khyber Pass Pub. The event will feature a permanent jewelry station, photo booth, desserts, drinks and networking opportunities. Mango members can attend for free, and regular tickets are $20. An optional headshot package (including 10+ edited images) ticket is $150.
