Calling all single Philadelphians! “Love is Blind” has officially announced its casting in the city.
Casting calls for the popular Netflix show are also currently happening in New Orleans, Austin, St. Louis and Charleston, South Carolina. According to Axios, the show has yet to confirm that an upcoming season will take place in Philadelphia, but we feel that there is certainly a lot of potential for true love in the City of Brotherly Love.
Not only is our city primed with great restaurants, fun-datetivities and great wedding venues, but we also have those fully-furnished temporary apartments for couples to stay in.
Applications are currently on Kinetic’s website, so if you’re hoping to find the Lauren to your Cameron through a “pod,” aka a strange, liminal space with a couch, go ahead and apply.
We can already think of a candidate or two who would be perfect. And we’re more than ready to welcome the Lacheys.
For those who aren’t in the loop, the show basically introduces a group of people who go on a series of one-on-one “blind” dates where they can’t see each other, only talk. Within 10 days, marriage proposals happen without cast members knowing what their new fiance actually looks like. Then, they have a trial period in their home city, as they meet family and plan for their nuptials, before deciding whether they “do” or “don’t” at the aisle.

According to the Instagram post, applicants should be “brave, open-minded, and READY for a committed relationship!”
Questions on the application range from “How long have you been single?” (which of course, not everyone who applies actually is) to “Are you ready for a true commitment?” and “Is finding love more important to you than being on television or gaining a following via social media? Be honest.”
Philly is a big city with a wide diversity of characters. Imagine the impact of a thick Delco accent coming from the other side of the “pod” wall on our Netflix screens.

We can already think of great date-night spots like Philly’s Magic Gardens, Ninth Street or Spruce Street Harbor Park for the couples to stroll around and fight about important topics like whether or not someone ate too many cuties.
And there’s plenty of bars the cast could check out. Picture couples gathering on top of Bok Bar for their big reunion, when they see all the other daters they didn’t choose in the pods. Or surely, they could head to Friday Saturday Sunday and grab a drink at the Lovers Bar, where many successful relationships have blossomed.
Dress shopping scenes could happen in Old City. And there’s a bunch of cinematic venues to choose from. Imagine a dramatic scene at the Water Works, where a groom turns down his beloved (of about a month) at the altar. We could have a Giannina-level moment of a runaway bride fleeing around the Art Museum and up the Rocky steps to make her escape.
As a fan of “Love Is Blind” — and someone who lived in Chicago during its season there — I have to say, one of the most entertaining things about the show filming in your city is that it’s only a matter of time before you spot a cast member in the wild.
Case in point: I once saw Sal from Season 2, at a Subway, confidently ordering a truly unhinged tuna wrap with pickles and olives.

While “Love Is Blind” does have its fair share of wild moments and crazy couples that were doomed from the start, it’s also a show with plenty of genuine success stories. After all, past cast members, while all admittedly attractive, are not the influencers you will find on “The Bachelor” or the impossibly hot islanders from “Love Island.”
They’re often real-life people who are ready to settle down. One can only hope to find love like Zack and Bliss or Tiffany and Brett. So make sure you’re in it for the “right reasons.” And, of course, bring on the drama.
