It’s been about 24 hours since Taylor Swift announced that she’s done adding to her long list of ex-lovers. The West Reading native and Jason Kelce’s brother are tying the knot!
Travis Kelce popped the question not with a friendship bracelet, but with a huge diamond ring. According to Forbes, an appraiser estimates that the gem is between about 10 to 15 carats —perhaps 13?!? — and has a valuation of around $650,000. Another jeweler guessed that the entire ring could cost up to $1.5 million, per People Magazine. (One even said up to $5 million.)
We can’t remember the last time a celebrity engagement caused such a stir!

The “Bejeweled” singer’s ring has a vintage feel, thick gold band and was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York, per the New York Times.
“It’s not trendy or flashy; it’s rooted in history and romance, which is very her,” Simone Kendle, the jeweler who created the couple’s matching tennis bracelets, told USA Today.
While Swift once claimed she would get married with “paper rings,” it’s clear her appreciation for “shiny things” won in this case.
Still, while spending over a million dollars on a rock is certainly a large amount, when it comes to famous Pennsylvanian engagement rings, Swift’s is not the most expensive, and not by a long shot.
That honor belongs to none other than the legendary actress and former Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly. Kelly’s ring is currently estimated to be worth $38.8 million.

The East Falls native fell in love with Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who proposed to the actress in 1955. The prince gifted her an ornate Cartier ring with a large, 10.47-carat emerald-cut diamond with two baguette-cut diamonds on either side.
The prince spent over $4 million for the engagement ring, and it was actually the second one he gave her. The extra large evaluation comes from the ring’s legacy. Not only is Kelly one of the most influential fashion icons of all time, but she actually wore the ring in one of her movies.
The scene-stealing rock appears in the 1956 film High Society, based on the 1939 play “The Philadelphia Story” by Philip Barry, which was Kelly’s last performance before settling down and leaving Hollywood royalty to become literal royalty. The actress chose to wear her actual engagement ring instead of a prop one.
Bing Crosby — who plays the actress’ ex-husband and true love interest, C.K. Dexter Haven — even comments that she’s sporting “some rock” in the movie, wondering if her new fiancé mined it himself.
Kelly’s ring is currently in the possession of Monaco’s royal family, where it’s been since the princess passed away after a tragic car crash in 1982.
Kelly’s High Society ring currently beats the one behind Swift’s “So High School” love in value. But who knows, maybe if Swift shows it off in a music video or two, in about 70 years, her ring will shine brightest when it comes to cost.
