The Philadelphia 76ers released its full regular season schedule for the upcoming season and connected with LJ Rader’s ArtButMakeItSports to give the reveal a feel fit for Philly’s best art museums.
Rader, who pairs photos of pro sports moments with famous works of art, used his unique talent to highlight some of the Sixers key games this season, including the team’s NBA Cup games.
Many of the pieces selected are on display in the city’s top art institutions, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Barnes Foundation.
New Sixers stars LeBron James and Jaylen Brown get referenced in the lineup, along with established starters Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe. Former Sixer Allen Iverson and Founding Father Ben Franklin also appear, to make it extra Philly.
The 76ers open the season at Madison Square Garden against the defending champion New York Knicks on October 20, and face one of King James’ former teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers, two days later in the home opener at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. On Christmas the Sixers take on James’ more recent former team, the Lakers, in Los Angeles.
Brown will have the chance to face the Boston Celtics in the Sixers two preseason games on Oct.10 and 16 and for the first time in the regular season on Nov. 10 in Philly.
The Sixers will feature in a franchise-record 34 nationally televised regular season games this season, the most the league allows.
