Sometimes, apparently, the hot deals that come with Black Friday are not hot enough for everybody.
In Philadelphia the last three years, 179 thefts have been reported on Black Fridays, according to crime info from Open Data Philly. That’s about average for the city. So far this year in Philadelphia police have fielded an average of 60 calls of theft per day, according to Open Data Philly.
Earlier this year, we highlighted the locations where thefts occur most often and found that 20 locations are responsible for about 10 percent of Philadelphia’s thefts. Consider this the holiday version. Here are the six locations where the most Black Friday theft has happened in recent years, plus a bonus pick that will surprise you.
The crime data records blocks where thefts happen rather than specific addresses, so we’ll just give the general area and describe which stores are there.
