Philadelphia could get an ‘Office of Music’ to support local artists
City Council is considering creating a permanent office focused on bolstering and boosting the local music industry.
- Establishing a Music Office would happen via city charter change, per a new bill. Based on recommendations from a task force, the idea follows a model that works: the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
More support for the city’s impressive scene is badly needed, street musicians and band members told Jordan Levy.

Philly’s first-ever Sneaker Con features hundreds of kicks
After being held in London, Shanghai, Sydney, and across North America, Sneaker Con last weekend made its Philly debut.
- Shoes of all kinds filled the Pa. Convention Center. Over 9,000 expected attendees browsed wares from more than 300 vendors, who showed off some of the most sought-after kicks on the market.
That includes everything from Retro Jordan 5s to art collective MSCHF’s “Big Red Boots,” pictured below. Nathan Morris was there to capture the vibe.
