Tyrese Maxey’s three-pointer from near midcourt in the closing seconds of regulation Tuesday pushed the contest against the Knicks to overtime and an eventual Sixers win. That set the stage for another must-win matchup in Game 6 in Philly.
The franchise is now doing all it can to make sure the return home for a must-win Game 6 is more hospitable than Sunday’s Game 4. The Sixers lost that game much to the delight of hundreds of Knicks fans who seemed to match or even overpower Sixers fans in attendance.
Team owners Josh Harris, David Blitzer, and David Adelman, along with Fanatics CEO and former co-owner Michael Rubin, announced that they have purchased 2,000 tickets for Thursday night’s crucial win-to-stay-in game for Philly.
The tickets will be going to the city’s first responders, health care professionals and other local organizations — as long as they’re Sixers fans.
Philly’s basketball royalty and celebrity fans are also asking fans to hold on to their tickets and come support the team.
Both Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid seemed to rise up rather than shrink when facing Madison Square Garden’s raucous crowd on Tuesday. Surely, a Wells Fargo Center packed with Sixers fans can help the team even the series.
Game 6 in South Philly starts Thursday night at 9.
