(Editor’s note: We updated this article after Sunday’s game.)
The Eagles are going back to the Big Game. Hope you enjoyed every minute of the Eagles’ 55-23 NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders, especially that second half, and the celebration on Broad Street.
Now we have to kill two weeks until the Super Bowl in New Orleans. We’re here to help with our own “hype” media guide, ranging from a feature length movie to a 10-second clip. Enjoy!
Two weeks of hype
Day 1 | Monday, Jan. 27
Sports fandom can bring about a boatload of different feelings and reactions, so let’s start with a movie that delves into all the emotions and other, more extreme circumstances, with “The Silver Linings Playbook.”
The movie is available with a Max subscription. For those without, here’s the final dance sequence.
Day 2 | Tuesday, Jan. 28
It’s no secret that Brandon Graham is an elite trash talker. The Eagles had enough of the veteran defensive end’s on-field chatter to make an hour-long yule log video.
We’ll save that for next holiday season and go with the shorter video of him (and Lane Johnson) giving the Cleveland Browns an earful this season.
Not BG trash talking the whole O-Line 🤣@brandongraham55 | #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/rBajJOAsNu
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) October 15, 2024
Bonus: Graham has hinted that he might be able to return from his torn triceps injury for the Super Bowl. So we might get even more BG chatter in February!
Day 3 | Wednesday, Jan. 29
Jordan Mailata being named an alternate for the Pro Bowl is a huge snub, but he seems more bothered by the lack of recognition that quarterback Jalen Hurts receives.
Jordan Mailata was asked if it bothers him that Jalen Hurts doesn’t get more respect.

A++ answer. pic.twitter.com/uAwZsiH6H1
It’s not the first time the Aussie has been overlooked; his run as the Thingamabob on “The Masked Singer” only lasted three weeks. So let’s pay respect to the best left tackle in the league, and his angelic voice, by rewatching his criminally short run on that show.
Day 4 | Thursday, Jan. 30
Jalen Carter was among the six Eagles who did make the Pro Bowl roster, earning his first-ever selection after two seasons as a pro.
Carter will be crucial Sunday to helping offset Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, and thankfully there’s past evidence of the former Georgia Bulldog doing just that, with some extra flourish, in the SEC Championship game against Louisiana State University.
Day 5 | Friday, Jan. 31
Jalen Hurts should be a “go” for Sunday, but his injuries over the past few weeks and much of the QB spotlight being on Washington rookie Daniels has left Hurts a little overshadowed. So let’s pull the team leader back into the spotlight with his mic’d up video from the Snow Bowl victory over the Rams.
Snow one does Mic'd Up like Jalen Hurts 🤌 pic.twitter.com/lHM1qAT1Ix
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) January 24, 2025
Day 6 | Saturday, Feb. 1
It’s movie time again with “Invincible,” the 2006 biopic about Eagles wide receiver Vince Papale, and strangely the driving reason why Boston native Mark Walhberg is an “honorary Philadelphian.”
Don’t have a Disney+ login, or want to shell out for one? There’s a video ESPN did with Wahlberg and Papale looking back on the film.
Day 7 | Sunday, Feb. 2
Settle in for another long watch with NFL Films’ feature on the trick play that helped clinch the city’s last Super Bowl title. “Philly Special: The Story Behind the BOLDEST Trick Play in NFL History” recounts how an underestimated coach and backup quarterback pulled off one of the most memorable moments in Super Bowl history on the way to beating Bill Belichick and Tom Brady’s Patriots.

Day 8 | Monday Feb. 3
One of the most memorable parts of the 2018 Super Bowl run was the viral video of Jigar Desai sprinting into a pillar at the Ellsworth-Federal Station ahead of the NFC Championship game.
Desai has been doing it ahead of postseason games out of superstition since, so let’s hope he’s able to get on in ahead of the Commanders game. For luck, not for his poor body.
Day 9 | Tuesday, Feb. 4
Brandon Graham’s strip sack of Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII, now also immortalized in local artist Jordan Spector’s trading card series, is as burned into Eagles fan’s brains as the Philly Special.
On the biggest stage.

At the perfect time.
Against all the odds. @brandongraham55 and the @Eagles took down Goliath. #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/qmXePZEjAb
If you’ve already committed the play to memory, you can hear Graham’s own reaction to it, and other key plays in his 15 seasons with the team, in this video. He also recently made sure to remind his fellow Michigan Wolverine that nowhere is safe from him, not even the sidelines.
Tom Brady will be back at the Linc Sunday calling the Eagles playoff game against the Packers with Kevin Burkhardt.

Day 10 | Wednesday, Feb. 5
Defense will be crucial in both games, but so will special teams — including Jake Elliott’s kicking. His postseason form has been a bit strange, with a perfect field goal record but an unfathomable 2-for-5 on extra points so far. Special teams coordinator Michael Clay said that is a result of the explosive offense of Saquon Barkley and others cutting down the usual prep time before an extra point attempt.
So let’s try to calm our nerves about Elliott’s form by looking back on his career-longest 61-yard field goal against the Giants and the reaction that followed.
61 yards. An #Eagles franchise record. What a moment for Jake Elliott! #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/F4qp10FMs1

Day 11 | Thursday, Feb. 6
Saquon Barkley. Reverse hurdle. Enough said.

Day 12 | Friday, Feb. 7
It’s every football fan’s dream to see a Super Bowl live, hopefully surrounded by your friends and loved ones, watching your team play. For most, though, the price to make that a reality is too high. The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” gang got their chance in Season 13, Episode 9 (sure, with a very loose definition of friends and loved ones). Aside from the hijinks that ensue, it’s worth a watch to see the footage of real fans celebrating in the moments after Brady’s failed Hail Mary attempt.
For those without a Hulu subscription or time for a full “Sunny” episode, here’s fan reactions compiled by the Eagles.
Day 13 | Saturday, Feb. 8
We’ve sung “Fly, Eagles Fly” more times than we can remember, in bars, living rooms, tail tags, or post-touchdown at the Linc. We’ve been in that subway car and someone started the chant of “E-A-G-L-E-S” — though Mayor Cherelle Parker could admittedly use a refresher.
Let’s scale it up today with the Philadelphia Orchestra’s rendition of “The Eagles’ Victory Song.”
Day 14 | Sunday, Feb. 9
It has to be Jason Kelce’s Super Bowl LII parade speech. One of the greatest descriptions of the underdog status of Philly as a sports city ever screamed.

If you want to try to time the video to run straight into kickoff, you can start it at exactly 6:24:24 p.m.
What if the Eagles had lost?
This consolation list we made is inconsequential now, but here is how we had suggested you could have dealt with that thankfully unnecessary outcome. It was mercifully shorter, for obvious reasons.
Day 1 | Monday, Jan. 27
Fans would have probably felt like Jigar Desai post-pillar hit the Monday after the game, without the padding of pregame drinks. So here it is to kick off the misery lap.
Day 2 | Tuesday, Jan. 28
There would have probably been plenty of theories about who was to blame for the loss, whether fairly or unfairly. When the time comes for you to vent, hopefully you can do it as perfectly as army veteran and former firefighter Hakim Laws did about Nelson Agholor.
Day 3 | Wednesday, Jan. 29
It would have been helpful to remember that a season isn’t just how it ends, and there was plenty of good this year. What was better than when the Eagles clinched the NFC East with a 41-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys?
Kelly Green vs. the Cowboys was pure cinema 🎥 pic.twitter.com/42Y5np4i6T
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) December 31, 2024
It’s almost like playing a game of Madden with the difficulty settings set to the lowest, with the added benefit of that’s actually how bad the Cowboys are right now.
Repeat with the Giants and the Giants, if needed.
Day 4 | Thursday, Jan. 30
We started the win list with “The Silver Linings Playbook”, and it seemed like a good way to close out a loss list. The themes of adversity and adjustment through moments of sadness and upheaval would have fit with getting through the tough loss. The movie is also in that category of sports films that take place far enough away from any actual sports, which would have hopefully helped us all move on to hoping for next year.
Fortunately, none of this part was necessary and it’s on to the big game. Go Birds!
