Pittsburgh journalist Colin Deppen joined The Incline as a reporter/curator in August 2017.
Since then, Colin has covered tumult at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a slew of special elections in and around the city, and broke the story about the Stephen Foster statue controversy and more. He’s also writes the occasional food review (with an emphasis on carbohydrates and other Pittsburgh delicacies) and is always open to new suggested reviews.
Colin came to The Incline from PennLive, where he led its westward expansion into Pittsburgh as a trending and enterprise reporter covering everything from the river transport industry to Mayor Bill Peduto’s relationship with Uber executives. He also previously worked with PennLive.com in Lancaster and at The Bradford (Pa.) Era and The St. Marys (Pa.) Daily Press.
Colin nabbed three Keystone Press Awards in 2017 from the Pennsylvania News Association for best feature writing, best personality profile and best series.
He is a New York City-native and Hunter College alumnus, who lives in Mount Washington. He is father to a 4-year-old daughter, Rory, and husband to Katie Weidenboerner, a former journalist, full-time supermom and current communications director at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.
