Philadelphia got its first sweet taste of spring over the last 24 hours, and there’s no better way to tell a new season is being ushered in than by taking a cue from our astute local news and weather casters.
It’s time for the springtime edition of weather caster wear. Here are eight members of your Philly news team and what they wore to celebrate spring:
1. 6ABC’s Walter Perez

Walter Perez and 6ABC did a segment last evening in which they talked to both golfers (happy about the weather) and skiers (sad about the weather). Perez broke out the light gray jacket for his stand-up segment live from a Norristown golf course.
2. 6ABC’s Cecily Tynan

Cecily Tynan, one of Philadelphia’s favorite meteorologists, was rocking springy colors and a sleeveless dress last night on 6ABC. Even though she was in-studio, we appreciate the warm efforts.
3. NBC10’s Deanna Durante

NBC10 reporter Deanna Durante reported from Bucks County yesterday about a presumed fake flyer telling people their water was poisoned with lead. While tracking down who circulated the information, she wore short sleeves — the tried and true sign of spring.
4. NBC10’s Sheena Parveen

The always sleek NBC10 meteorologist Sheena Parveen also broke out a sleeveless dress yesterday because things are record highs! Heading into the 80s! (Thanks to that screen for yelling at us.)
5. Fox29 Good Day team

Fox29’s Good Day team Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley don’t *look* like they’re dressed for spring, but! Jerrick told viewers that he’d wear shorts for a segment later today if lots of people respond to their #FrescoOnFox Twitter hashtag.
6. CBS3’s Lauren Casey

Similar to Cecily Tynan’s look, CBS3’s Lauren Casey pulled out a funky dress with hues of pink and purple to bring in the springtime.
7. Fox29’s Dave Kinchen

Reporting live this morning from the scene of a deadly crash in Kensington, Fox29’s Dave Kinchen — like Walter Perez — was wearing lighter colors than usual in this tan blazer.
8. Fox29’s Jenn Frederick

But by far our favorite weather segment was this morning when Fox29’s Jenn Frederick reported live from the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J. where a group of people were working out to get rid of their “butts and guts” for the summer. Frederick, who admitted being from Florida and still thinking this was cold weather, had a winter vest on along with sunglasses.
The segment was… a little weird.

Back to you, Mike and Alex.
