If you’ve checked out the FIFA fan fest at East Fairmount Park’s Lemon Hill, you’ve probably already seen the Bank of America booth giving out free custom World Cup charm bracelets — and the long queue of people trying to get one.
For everyone who hasn’t picked up the viral item, the process has been a little more streamlined.
The fan bands have become one of the viral hits of the tournament, allowing people to combine charms that are both World Cup and Philly-themed, with options including the trophy, the three tournament mascots, the LOVE statue, a cheesesteak and the Liberty Bell.
Even Gov. Josh Shapiro stopped by to have one made, on the same day he did a sit down interview with WHYY’s Sports in America with David Greene.
To make the lines for the keepsake a little less excruciating, the fan fest’s organizers will now be handing out wristbands at the front gate before the festival opens. If wristbands remain after that, folks can stop by the BofA booth to get one until they run out.
The wristbands are color coded to a specific one-hour time slot, when you’ll be able to swing by the booth and hopefully have a shorter wait to get your World Cup trinket.
The fan bands are also available in pre-made, matchup-themed form in Philadelphia Stadium on gamedays.
Philly’s fan fest is run for the entirety of the World Cup, from June 11 till July 19. Philly has had three of its six games so far. The final one is on July Fourth.
