The Academy of Natural Sciences supporters say the fight isn’t over
Beyond City Council’s planned hearings, the investigation itself cannot force the museum to reopen, but it could shed more light on the academy’s finances and how the closure decision was made. It could also identify funding, partnership or operating options that provide a path toward reopening the museum to the public.
Marchers say they also plan to attend the next Council meeting Oct. 1 and push for the museum to reopen during the scheduled public comment period. Continue reading…
Philly’s Navy Yard is becoming a neighborhood. Here’s what it’s like now
Once a sprawling military shipyard, the Navy Yard is adding homes, transit and more while holding onto its industrial past.
A 1,200-acre mixed-use campus, the Navy Yard is open and quiet, with only car engines and the breeze as background noise – when construction isn’t underway on one of the many development projects in the area.
