Parker admin crosses halfway mark in its housing goal
Mayor Cherelle Parker’s administration set a goal of building and repairing 30,000 homes in Philadelphia and has hit the 16,000 point, according to a city dashboard.
The milestone comes as the administration prepares to submit its first report on the plan. The majority of the homes have been preserved or built under H.O.M.E., which provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners who meet its income guidelines.

This eclectic concert has been taking place in a Philly living room for 40 years
Back in 1986, Andrea Clearfield began welcoming guests into her home. Once inside, they would take their shoes off, squeeze together inside her living room, sit on the floor, and watch 10 different music ensembles perform 10-minute sets.
“It was designed to continue and kind of create a contemporary spin on the salons of Europe that can date back to 17th and 18th centuries — Italy and France,” said Clearfield, composer, curator and founder of the unique Philly salon. “People would gather in their homes to share literature or ideas or philosophies, and later music and arts.” Continue reading…
